Barnsley is located in South Yorkshire, halfway between Leeds and Sheffield. Surrounded by several smaller settlements, together it forms the Metropolitan Borough of Barnsley, of which Barnsley itself is the largest.
The town is rooted in industrial heritage, rich in history and with an abundance of attractions for residents or those visiting for a long weekend. It has a character of its own when it comes to its history of coal mining and glassmaking – with its surrounding ancient villages steeped in tradition and culture.
Barnsley offers vast historic parkland that boarders into the Peak District, and offers some excellent places to visit for those who want to relax with nature.
If you were to head into the center of town, you would find stately homes, cultural museums, art galleries and ancient ruins to explore. However, its most famous attraction is the Barnsley market, which offers a vast and varied selection of farm shops with local produce to bring out the “foodie” in everyone who visits.
Barnely’s family friendly fun fairs and craft fairs makes it the perfect place to create magical memories.
