Discovering Potential: Achieving Success

Fostering in Beverley and its surrounding areas with Fostering2Inspire

Located in the scenic East Riding area of Yorkshire, Beverley was once voted one of the best places to live in the UK and is renowned for its rich heritage, historic buildings and medieval skyline.

Beverley is steeped in history and remains wonderfully unspoiled. The beautiful town offers its local residents a range of boutique cafes, superb restaurants, terrific pubs and award winning walks. The cobbled streets and surrounding rolling hills form the perfect setting for Beverley's famous local market, which offers such attractions as fresh local produce, flourishing nursery plants and delicious home bakes for the residents and visitors. It’s a town that tells a fascinating story, with local legends and community culture very much embedded in this small settlement.

Magnificent churches

The Beverly Minster is one of the main attractions of this town, known for its exquisite gothic style. It is the largest Church of England Parish Church. Founded in 700 AD, the current building was completed in 1400.

The Minster contains three styles: Early English, Decorated and Perpendicular, with many who visit this church today experiencing a sense of calm and spiritual peace within its walls.

For lovers of ecclesiastical buildings, St Mary's Church is also well worth a visit. It was constructed in the 12th Century with many later restorations up to and including work by Pugin and Gilbert Scott in the 19th Century.

The ceiling has 40 Kings painted on it, some historic and some probably mythical. There may also be an Alice in Wonderland connection with a stone 'white rabbit' carved into a door frame.

Historic and cultural delights

To get a wonderful overview of Beverley's history and cultural life, the Treasure House is a one-stop centre for heritage and information services, providing access to the collections of the East Riding Archives, Beverley Art Gallery, Beverley Guildhall and archaeology of the Museums Service under one roof. The Treasure House opened in 2007, which supported by a £3.9m from the Heritage Lottery Fund Incidentally, the tower also offers views across the town of Beverley.

Energetic entertainment!

There are also many action-packed days out to be enjoyed by you and the family. For instance, what about a trip to the UK’s first ever dual-level inflatable theme park? Inflata Nation offers the chance to experience the UK's biggest ball pool filled with 200,000 balls, as well as a host of other fun activities such as the incredible Inflata Mountain!
