The East Riding of Yorkshire is an impressive ceremonial county in the North of England. Historically, this landscape was one of three ridings in this area, alongside the North and West, which together compromised the administrative county of Yorkshire.
East Yorkshire is made up low chalk hills, the Yorkshire Wolds and the low-lying plains of the Vale of York. The Yorkshire Wolds are steeped in natural history and are formed from chalk to make an arc from the Humber estuary up to the North Sea coast.
Although the cosmopolitan city of Hull offers the electric excitement of city life, East Yorkshire holds serene landscapes and medieval towns in its heart. With towns such as Beverly, Goole and Pocklington to name a few, this area offers quintessential British countryside, and seaside experiences for residents and visitors alike.
